Dear Booksharians,
In case I might proofread a wish list book from the checkout page, I was
clicking on some titles to investigate them. All of the ones I looked at had a
Bookshare staffer as the scanner and the name of a volunteer as the
proofreader. How can that be? If they aren’t approved yet, how can there be the
name of a proofreader? The information about the book said it was something
like approved for proofreading. How could I check it out if there is already a
proofreader’s name which isn’t mine. The titles don’t say Hold for the
particular proofreader.
Has anyone here proofread a wish list book? Did you notice the same thing? When
you checked it in did your name replace whatever name was on it while it was on
the checkout page?
Most of the titles I looked at were populated by hoards of trolls, witches,
werewolves and vampires. I’m not attracted to them as books I can proofread and
enjoy at the same time, but I’m interested in understanding the process just in
case.
