It comes from a description in a game variously named Adventure or Colossal
Cave. The passages were either all different or looked alike.

One book that I've been wanting for a while is obscure to most
people who aren't involved in this. It is called Twisty Little
Passages, by Nick Montfort. It is a history of the growth and
progress of Interactive Text games, which I tend to like very
much. I don't know if this would be interesting to any of you,
but I would most certainly validate this one.
