There shouldn't be two sets of page numbers in Bookshare books. NLS does it because their books are printed on paper, and the braille page numbers differ from those in the original text; and those braille page numbers aren't really necessary anyway. The only relevant page numbers are those from the original print book. Bookshare books are only supposed to have one set of page numbers, those in the original print book.
The big deal is that Bookshare is producing a lot of books for students. I can see some students having problems figuring out where they're supposed to be if they've got two sets of page numbers.

Hi, Tracy, when I was going to school there were print page numbers and Braille page numbers and of course when it came to attending class the instructor would mention what I thought of as the print page numbers. In fiction one only had the Braille page numbers, but things have changed. I got a collection of stories by Patricia McKillip and the book was numbered like a text book (yeah, you guessed it, both print and Braille pagenumbering). Now when I'm reading for pleasure seeing that line of dashes anda page numbered attached definitely interrupts reading flow (for lack of a better expression). I've also come across books in Bookshare that have two sets of numbers (Ngaio Marsh Five Complete Novels has both for example). I personally don't see what the big deal is, but I do want the page count tobe accurate, but more important to me is the accuracy of the text. If I'm reading a book, the only page numbers I care about are theones in the book. If I'm using the book in a class, or even a reading group, I want to be able to refer to, say, the passage on page 210. Ken Cross used to have fits about Bookshare page numbers, and rightly so. TracyHi, gang, I've sent Jack of Kinrowan back to bookshare in hopes of it being approved. The file had two sets of page numbers, one based on the actual book (me), and one based on MS Word which were there twice. Ah, heck! This is confusing! Anyhow it all works out okay. If you count the prefatory pages along with the rest of the book, the pages add up to 480. I guess what I was being told was that I couldn't have both. For example, if I was on print page 8 of the actual text, the page field would say p.14 and 2 lines down there was p. 8 which is what you would read (I think that's right.) Grr! Anyhow, I hope that it gets into the collection by hook or by crook.
