Hi everyone!I installed Abby FineReader, because it came with my Opticbook 3800, because I was curious about it to see how it was compared to an older version of OmniPage that I had years ago. Although I am totally blind, I think Abby FineReader is very intuitive, while I couldn't make heads or tails out of the old OmniPage. I use OpenBook 9 as my serious scanning software, and like it for the most part, but one thing I find very annoying about it is that, when I do a find and replace to correct scannos as I read what I have scanned, when there is more than one correction, I am taken to the last correction made, which could be before or after the page that I had been reading, making me have to go to the page I was reading and find my place. OpenBook 7 never did that. They should have kept that the old way so that a fine and replace keeps me in the same place I, where I want to be as OB 7 did or MS Word does after making a similar correction, for example.

Can't go wrong, Jodene! If you tell us more about your situation,w e can recommend the best scanning software. As a sighted scanner, I prefer ABBYY FineReader, and if you are visually impaired, Kurzweil 1000 seems to have the best support on the list.Scanning is still like magic to me. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do! Valerie Join us in celebrating our 10th Anniversary! It's between $200.00 and $300.00. You can put the books right on the edge and scan very easily with it in one-page mode or do two pages at a time if it's a paperback.
