I don't think that would work either. These publisher submitted ebooks replace volunteer scanned and submitted books. I have a feeling that a volunteer submitted book would not be allowed in the collection alongside the publisher submission. It would make sense though. It was Madeleine's predecessor, Scott, who told us that different editions of a book were considered to be different books as far as volunteer submissions go. He explained that, for example, if a book was being used in the classroom and the teacher told the class to turn to a certain page it would be a problem if the student was using a different edition from the one that the rest of the class was using. It seems to me that it would be even worse if that student was using a pageless ebook. Frankly, though, if I had a book on hand that was a different edition from a book already in the collection I would be hesitant to scan it even if I knew it would be accepted unless there was a really important difference. That is, if there was an introduction or other annotation that I thought was really important. Otherwise, it would seem like a duplication of effort to me.

hmm. t too bad The the only solution seems to be that someone would have to scan a copy of the eBook that has no pages. Not a problem if one wants to read it badly enough smileOn Sat, Jul 27, 2013 at 12:41 PM, Roger Loran Bailey <rogerbailey81@xxxxxxx <mailto:rogerbailey81@xxxxxxx>> wrote:I think that the problem with volunteers with a print copy in hand adding page numbers to publisher submissions is that they are not the same edition. You would not, for example, use the third edition of a book to correct the pagination in a first edition. Similarly, a print edition has an entirely different pagination than an ebook. Namely, a print edition does have pages and an ebook has no pages. That means that if you are going to insert page breaks on the basis of a print book then you may as well just be inserting them wherever you want without reference to anything. I have 2 comments/suggestions:(1) volunteers as well as members can write reviews for books and I have done so for quite a few books I've proofed; wait until your book has been added to the collection; even though as a volunteer you can't download the book to read you can, if I remember correctly, click on the Review or Write a review ... it's been so long since I've done this I don't remember exactly -- and write and submit a review. I generally write my review in a sepate file, clean it up and then paste it onto the review form; (2) re adding page breaks and numbers to a PQ book: could such a book be put on the queue as a BSO? with the note in the Comments that page breaks and numbers are needed? then those of us who can obtain the print book can take it from the queue and fix it. Finally; Engineering is too busy at the moment to fix the renewal unavailability problem but do you still want us to notify you when we receive the expiration notice with a copy of the line that shows we can't renew?
