Way to go Jim. It's great to see someone giving validation a try. (smile) Yes, it is best to have a blank line before and after the page number if it is at the bottom of a page. The same is true for page numbers at the top of a page. This is a helpful hint if you're using Microsoft Word to validate. Go to the top of the first page. Do a control h for the find and replace dialog box. In the first field, type "^m" without the quotes. In the second field, type "^p^m^p" again without the quotes. Then choose replace all. ^m stands for a page break character. ^p makes a new paragraph with a new blank line. So what we're doing here is replacinging a page break with a blank line, page break, and another blank line. This makes handling page numbers and headers faster and easier. Good luck with your book.

Well I've decided to give validation a try. In the past I skipped most of the email messages on validation. So, I apologize for asking a question you have answered before.
