Gerald,

Now, if I can just get some instructions as to how to zip the thing, we're on.

The system here is a cable modem, running about 4 megs per second, so time
shouldn't be a problem.

Just waiting for somebody to tell me how to zip the thing. Know it's a rookie
question but there it is.

Peace,
Ernie

  Ernie,

Sounds like the problem is the file size, especially if you're not using a
cable modem or DSL. There's been problems with uploading very large files,
probably because of the time they take to upload. I've gotten the impression
that the Bookshare system is timing out somewhere if the upload takes too long.
Try zipping it like Jake suggested, and you might try a different time of day
if you have been attempting to upload it around the same time since the traffic
over the internet is busier at some times during the day than others. If you
happen to be using a cable modem, I'd recommend trying it during the day on a
weekday since performance goes down when more people use the cable system for
accessing the internet, and there will be fewer people on-line when kids are in
school and people are at work.

  Good luck,

  Gerald

  Lessee, Gerald.

Internet Explorer, Windows xp Pro, Yeah, I had my spouse check things out,
and there's no error message. Jaws just goes to 99 per cent, and hangs there.

As for the synopsis, I'm gonna have to wait for some inspiration, but, I'll
muddle through it.

Oh yeah, sorry but I forgot the exact size of the file, but if it helps, the
book's 1100 pages long, so rather large. Should I have another go??

  Peace,

  Ernie

    Ernie,

Actually, your message wasn't long enough.

Are you using Internet Explorer or Firefox?

Are you using Windows? If so, which version?

    Is the file very large?

    How long before JAWS hangs?

Have you tried getting someone sighted to see if there's an error message
on the screen when it hangs?

As for the synopsis, I don't understand what you mean by help. Are you
asking if you can change it, or are you asking for help writing it?

    Gerald

    Hi all,

I just finished my first book, but I seem to be having a bit of a problem
uploading it.

I am using Jaws 7, and The book is an rtf file. After clicking the
"upload" button, and checking everything, I have clicked "Accept." Anyone who
uses Jaws knows that it will give you the percentage of the file transfer.

In this situation, Jaws is going to 99 per cent, and stopping. at this
point, I am losing speach unless I get out of the application.

When I checked later, the system told me I still had the book and could
upload it. What gives?

Sorry to make this so long, but some explanation needed to be given.

One other observation--the synopsis is not correct. Can anybody give me a
hand?

    Thanks.

    Peace,

    Ernie
