I think one of my first books I scanned ended up on the fair list. And another was so bad it got rejected for quality issues! Those were with openbook six, and now that I use Kurzweil I can optomize books and do a rank spelling.

I've got to back up Carrie and others on this one. Many of the books rated
fair have missing pages, paragraphs, and sentences that no volunteer could
fix unless they just rescan the whole book. Many of these books were scanned with older technology or by inexperienced submitters who didn't know how to
get good scans. These books weren't done by bad people. They're just badly
scanned books. My first few scans were terrible, and I shudder when I read
them now. If I still had access to the print books, I'd rescan them. I'll
bet several submitters of fair books feel this way too.
