I didn't think of looking at the document in OpenBook, because I didn't know anything was there at first. That was the disconcerting thing about it. Also, I use OpenBook for as little as possible - other than scanning of course. Although the voice at least works more reliably - thanks to Jake who showed me how to get it to talk with JAWS - I still have issues with the program, and don't think of it as a first choice for anything other than scanning and OCR, in which case I have no other choice.

Hi, Evan. I've had that problem too, and I didn't have anything to offer either. I figured that I was doing something wrong somehow and didn't want to look stupid. (smile) I could read the text in Openbook and another editor I like, but Microsoft products didn't handle it properly. If I ever find out what is going on, I'll post here.
