Hi Shannon!  I have an OpticBook, but use FineReader when scanning
books.  I use K1000 for mail and short items and don't make any major
settings adjustment to do that.  The scans are good.  However, I'll
let others give you advice on settings for books.  I really just
wanted to say that you made a good choice as a Solstace gift for
yourself and I hope you enjoy it!  I still love mine.
