I'm glad something worked. I've had troubles in the past getting rid of
tables. As for fractions, remember that we're allowed to send each other a
few pages at at time; I think up to about a third of the book. Any time
you need to you can send me pages or parts of them and I'll write the
fractions and send them back to you and you can insert them into your file

First I tried Cindy’s suggestion but after entering on all of the sections
of the ribbon and tabbing and arrowing around, I still couldn’t hear
anything about tables. I heard things about margins and fonts and more, but
no tables.
Then I worked on figuring out how I could send those pages to Doug. I
opened a document and selected the pages and copied them to it. That caused
some little grey cells to fire and I tried cutting the pages and copying
them to the document. On the second try that worked. When I returned to my
book those pages were gone, gone, gone! I’ve been stuck on this problem for
3 or 4 days. It’s something how glitches can bring our work to a standstill.
Judy made a marvelous document of key commands we can use instead of the
ribbons to accomplish things in word. Evan has consulted it many times to
save his or my bacon when we’d have otherwise remained tangled in those
ribbons. Evan had searched it to see if there was a command to delete or
untable ize tables but couldn’t spot it.
I’m so relieved to be over this hurdle. I’ve worked on this book for
weeks, only 5 to 10 pages at a time because it’s so draining. You know how
fractions don’t scan and they can’t be globally replaced because they
aren’t consistent. It’ll take some mighty strong temptation for me to
attempt another cookbook any time soon.
I can’t wait to make progress again on this one!

Are you using Word or something else? If Word, There's a ---what are those
things called -- Menu? at the top ( toolbar) where the View, Edit, Format
etc. are -- anywhere, there's one of those called Table and when you click
on that one of the options ( third one down --there's Draw table, Insert
Table,and then Delete table. you could try highlighting the table and
pressing delete table, or would that get rid of too much stuff. But I
gather you've already put what's in it into text. If you're in rtf
perhaps yo can change,i/e/. convert to Word.
If that doesn't work I have another idea that might, but I'm not sure
about it There's something called Photo Snap? I'll have to ask my husband
and at this precise moment he's not available but he will be later.
Whatever it's called, if I remember correctly you can frame the whole thing
and take snapshot of it (maybe that's what it's called -- snapshot and then
send that as an attachment

neighbor’s sister for her family. It’s copyrighted so it qualifies for
Bookshare and I love the recipes which date from the 1950s to the present.
After the family recipes is a section added by the cookbook publishing
company of kitchen tips which includes a monster two page table which would
translate in braille to scrambled mush. I tried to delete it to translate
it to text. I highlighted all of it and pressed delete. All of the text in
the zillions of boxes disappeared but the rows and rows of boxes remained,
all empty. I’ve tried and tried to delete those entire pages and they won’t
go away!
Can anyone suggest something I can do? I don’t think I can leave them in
like that adding in two extra pages with the texted versions of them.
