It appears that issue with the system are now resolved. Here is a portion of
the official report we received:
The cause of the outage was a great many database connections and transactions.
These transactions caused more than 30 times the average amount of locks to be
created, causing issues for the database system to process all connections in a
timely fassion. This obviously snowballed into a large problem.
