[bksvol-discuss] Switching to K-1000

I am replying to a post, but I changed the subject header!
I just ordered K-1000.
It will be groceries of peanut butter for awhile. Well maybe some hummus.
Hopefully some of you who use it on this list may be available for some
questions.
One I have already is whether I would be best to uninstall the OpenBook
software. I don't see why. But I would rather avoid any problems. I have
enough usually. (smile)
I was reading on my bookport group discussion list the other day that in
K-1000 you can actually prepare and send audio daisy files directly to the
bookport. This will be pretty nice. I've also learned of the neo speech
synthesizer voices that k-1000 has and that they have 2 new very human
sounding voices, Kate and Paul in the version 10 that is on its way.
But of course the biggest reason I have decided to get k-1000 is the
enhanced editing capability and features that will make my bookshare
volunteering even more fun and maybe even less time consuming! So how about
it, will anyone want to be my coach?

Ah, Monica, you and everyone else using OB is wishing for that update. this
is why I'm thinking of switching my allegiance to Kurzweil if I can scrape
up enough cash. Maybe if all of us chain ourselves to the doors they'd
