I have come to the reluctant conclusion that the staff doesn't know either. ----- Original Message ----- From: Gary Petraccaro To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, March 13, 2009 2:27 AM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: Superscript for Footnote numbers When will the BookSaare staff do it's job and make a manual that covers topics like this so as to make it clear what we are supposed to do rather than have people constantly say what they, themselves, do? ----- Original Message ----- From: siss52 To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, March 13, 2009 12:59 AM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: Superscript for Footnote numbers Hi Lori, I would put a space and then an asterisk before each number. What format are the footnote numbers in now? If we knew that we might be able to help you do the change in one fell swoop. Putting the numbers into superscript, though quite acceptable to the writers of style manuals, would confuse most speech programs, and perhaps Braille translators too. It would be better to put them in parentheses or brackets. Hope this helps. I have several questions. Am I correct that I should be making these numbers superscript? If so, is there an easier way to do this than to select each number go into format, font and check superscript? Is there a way to make all the footnote numbers superscript at one time? Thanks for all help on this. Cat Lover Lori ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- No virus found in this incoming message.
