Hello,A major part of a validator's job is to provide a double check on the data on the submission form. This is a big help to the administrator who provides the final review of the book. The following is apartial description of checking a book back in for validation (it's taken from Section 2.2.7 of the volunteer manual).
"Much of the information on the form will already have been filled in by the submitter. The validator's job is to verify that the information on the form matches that found in the book itself and to enter any optional information which the submitter neglected to enter. For a detailed discussion of what should be put in each field, see the section titled "Guidelines for Filling Out The Submission and Validation Forms."
The first four fields on the form for accepting a book are "Title", "Author(s)", "Copyright Holder", and "Copyright Date". For each of these items, verify that the information entered by the submitter matches the information contained in the book."
I hope this helps, Jake Jake Brownell Bookshare.org Intern jakeb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx www.bookshare.org----- Original Message ----- From: <james.homme@xxxxxxxxxxxx>

Hi, This brings up the question: Should we change the title when uploading to reflect the right one or does that mess things up? Take the time to spell the book title and the author's name correctly when you submit the book. I'm finding that when I look through the list for books that are ready to validate, I avoid the ones with mis-spelled words and the words run together inthe titles or in the author's name. I'm doing this because it gives me theperception that if a person submitting the book didn't even take the time to put in this information correctly, I might see the same inside the book - that I can't trust how much time they spent on making sure the book was scanned well. Now, I am not saying at all that it's really the case that such a book is poorly scanned. What I am saying is that it gives the perception that the book might be poorly scanned, so I'm unlikely to download the book to even find out. So - for what it's worth - just a suggestion.
