From the Bookshare Wish List, I'm embarking on scanning titles by children author Jane Yolen. I do them in such a way that hopefully makes validation easy. Page numbers, spelling and scanos corrected, etc. There were TWO copyright dates. I used the most recent when uploading the RTF file to the Step 1 page. Thanks. Rik TITLE: Hobby (The Young Merlin Trilogy book 2) AUTHOR: Jane Yolen YEAR OF COPYRIGHT: Copyright © 1996, 1986 by Jane Yolen OWNER OF COPYRIGHT: Jane Yolen GENRE: Children’s; Fiction; Science Fiction Fantasy How Many Pages: 90 SHORT DESCRIPTION: The second book in the Young Merlin Trilogy. As Hobby, the boy passes among peasants and princes; as hawk, he is hunted and feared. And as Merlin, he is forever searching for the family that continues to elude him. ISBN #: 0-15-200815-2 LONGER DESCRIPTION: Young Merlin dreams a bird, its breast as red as flames — and wakes to find his home engulfed in fire, his adoptive family dead, his life once again in ruin. He dreams a wizard and a castle on wheels. And soon, calling himself Hawk, he falls into the company of traveling performers. They rename him Hobby, after the small falcon, and exploit for their own profit his talent for dreaming the future. But the boy's dreams never come true directly; they must be read on the slant. And no one — least of all the dreamer — can accurately foresee the nightmarish troubles that lie ahead. As Hobby, the boy passes among peasants and princes; as Hawk, he is hunted and feared. And as Merlin, he is forever searching for the family that continues to elude him. VOLUNTEER COMMENTS: Scanned with the Kurzweil K-1000 version 11. Page headers were normalized, moving page numbers from bottom to top of each page. There was no header text. Spell checker was used, followed by ranked spelling -- achieving an accuracy at completion of corrections to a 99.97 percent ratio. Most pages had illustrations, but there were no text captions I still have a K-1000 KES image saved version of most pages the book, should a question arise during the validation.
