Sorry. I go through and check for page numbers, remove headers, fixed end
of page hyphens...stuff like that. *Smile*

I don't understand. They don't have to be cleaned up. smile. I thought
that's what I'm supposed to help you do.

Hi.

Sounds good. I won't be able to have the first of these books cleaned up
until Tuesday.

Thanks again for helping.

I've requested Distant Thunders, Iron Gray Sea and Firestorm from my
library. I'll let you know when I've picked them up and you can then let me
know specifically what you need. You can send me the first chapters that
are messed up, either as Word or rtf attachments (I'll change them to word,
correct them, and send them back to you as rtf if you want, so you can add
them to what you have) Or you can copy them and paste them into the message
part of an email letter, and then I'll make the corrections and return the
email. I think that probably would be the easiest way to do it.

Hi.

If you could get Distant Thunders, Iron Gray Sea, and Firestorm from your
library, that'd be great. What I've been doing with the other volunteer
who's helping me with these is scanning the books and cleaning them up the
best I can. I put QQQ at all of the places where the text is jumbled and I
sent her the files, before I submitted them to Bookshare, and she corrected
those spots. Most of these spots are in the beginnings of the chapters.
However, there's a lot of slang and weirdly-written words that I'm not
always sure about so I mark those too. I can also figure out some of the
jumbled bits at the beginnings of the chapters. I can't say ahead of time
how much work a book will be but I'm hoping no more than an hour per book.

If you're still ok with this, please let me know. If not, I completely
understand.

Have a great weekend.

Christina

My library has Into the Storm, Distant Thunders and Rising Tides as well as
some other books by him.
Shall I request them or will you, or who wants to?
and once we get the books, what's wanted from them; just info about the
first letter of each chapter?

This is very odd. My library has all seven and another's has six of the
seven.

Is this only for certain libraries?

Pamela, thanks for checking World Cat. Now I don't have to check my
libraries an d get discouraging results.Isn't World Cat wonderful? I
was delighted when learned about it from a librarian who assured me it was
available to the public. I was less delighted when I did a search for a
particular book and found it was only available from a library in England,

Christina,

According to Worldcat, there are no copies available at libraries for the
first three that you mentioned. Boo! I have access to two: Firestorm and
Iron Grey sea only.

Amazon might give me peeks if you want to send a phrase on the page. It
probably won't give us all of the pages you need though.

Let me know if I can help in any way!

Hello. I am currently scanning the Destroyermen series by Taylor Anderson.
The first letter of each chapter is huge; a sighted friend said it takes up
about half the page and runs through about the first six lines of text.
She's helped me with some weird formatting issues in other books recently so
I don't want to ask her to assist me with this series as well.
Is there anyone that could look up these books on Google or Amazon Peek? I
don't have any specific page numbers yet but I will in a couple hours. The
only caviat is that I'm hoping to get answers fairly quickly. These are all
library books and I can only keep them for a few weeks, including renewals.
I'm willing to wait a few days for answers but I can't do much longer than
that.
So far, this series is seven books long. I'd need help with the first
paragraph or so of each chapter though I hope I can figure out most of this
on my own. I'm basically looking for a go-to person to help with the
difficult bits.
Some of the titles include: Into the Storm, Distant Thunders, and Rising
Tides.
Thank you.
Christina
