Hi Monica, I have one book on Texas Hold Em that has words, not pictures, and I'm going to send this to Carrie to scan as soon as I find a box. I am willing to put some cash into it, so if you find books from Amazon that interest you, I'd be happy to grab them. As I mentioned to Cindy in my last message, it would be great if we can verify whether the books have pictures or name the cards in words. I'd love books on poker and a few beginning books on bridge, at least to start. I'd also love a book on backgammon, but I just can't imagine how to do that one without lots of sighted assistance, because those would definitely come with pictures. I agree with you about how the cards should be named. While reading ah in Braille would make sense, it would just say ah in speech, or at best A H. Are you on All in Play? I'm still a rookie player, which is one of the reasons I grabbed a Hold Em book. If I could, I'd put that last sentence in bold and make it red. As for representing the cards, for speech users, it might read better to put something like ace of hearts rather than putting the letters a h because our screenreaders would say ah. That would get confusing to some people. Do you already own some books about card games, or would you have to buy some first? Or are you going to search a library for them? I'm asking because I'm willing to help locate books. I'd like to chip in and buy some, but I've already gone overboard on my book buying budget 2 months in a row. Amazon had a sale and... (blush) I would be happy to help validate your scans since I know how to play Hold Em and poker. I would be able to spot scannos fairly easily unlike someone who doesn't know those games. I know zilch about playing bridge though. Let me know how I can help, and I'm glad to know there is someone else who is interested in these types of games.
