Sue, I think she means she'll send the print books if the proofers can't get copies from their library Cindy --- On Wed, 8/15/12, Sue Stevens <siss52@xxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: Sue Stevens <siss52@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: Scanning Books To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 4:49 PM Hi Madeleine, I thought we were not allowed to send each other copies of awhole book via email. I gather that is what she means since she says she cannot send the books themselves. Sue S. Her scans are not in great condition and she explains more below. If there are any sighted proofreaders who are interested in the books below and could possibly get the books from libraries (and she also may be able to ship them), please let me know! Thanks, Madeleine Sent: Wednesday, August 15, 2012 10:57 AM To: Madeleine Linares Subject: Scanning Books Hi Madeleine, Mayrie wrote me one email with recommendations of settings to change. For some reason as I mentioned to you when I switch to two pages, it lets me scan 20 pages or so and then gives an error message. I don’t know if you have any sighted proofreaders who might want to get the books. The reason given for rejection on one of them was too many junk characters in the front of the book, but a sighted person with the book could fix that as well. Anyway, I didn’t want to clog up your system with other books that are not going to pass muster, but I wanted to give you the additional titles I’ve scanned unless you have someone interested who might want to try to work with them. The past ones were: Final Acts by Alex Abella Look to the Lady by Margery Allingham Vamped by Lucienne Diver Mother Nature by Sarah Andrews I also have: Shamanism by Tom (can’t remember his last name) Murder in Scorpio by Martha Lawrence The Tenth Saint by D.J. Niko So, if you have someone who is interested, I can submit the books. I’m really sorry it isn’t working out easier, and I don’t even know if re-installing the program would help at this point. I don’t know why the program seems to prefer one method over another, and I haven’t heard back from Mayrie after I responded to her with the fact that the two-page thing results in an error sooner rather than later.
