The HP scanners work less well with Kurzweil than do Epson scanners. Some settings cannot be set as accurately using Kurzweil when using HP.

The OpticBook is a bookedge scanner, very accurate, meant for use by libraries and professionals and available at good prices. It will not scan two pages at a time unless you have a very small book. However it does its work so well you will be extremely satisfied. Lots of folks on the bookshare volunteer list use it.

By the way, there is an upgrade to Kurzweil from Open Book available. I do not know its exact cost. Kurzweil will give you tools not available in Open Book at present.

Do remember please that Epson has a re-furbish list on their site where scanners can be had for markdown prices.

Hope this info helps.
