Dear Cindy and Gerald,
Sigh. I love shopping, but this doesn't count as shopping....sigh...
Always With Love,
Cindy,
I believe the Epsen scanner you're trying to remember is the 3170.
Can't help you with yours. I don't know a thing about it. Sorry.
Gerald

Dear Lissi,
I certainly echo the part about not buying the cheapest Epson. So that I could have a second scanner, my husband kindly bought an Epson 3490, for just under $100--maybe less, but I can't get it to save multiple pages as one document--and even figuring out out to do a scan that will convert to text has been a problem. We've both spent the last few days trying to get it to work as well as my 1660, and I haven't gotten any validating done.
I don't think the 3490 was the one you all recommended was it? I wrote down what that was in case I needed to replace my 1660 at some point but I can't find it (what else is new). My memory (always a little faulty--and note I said a little) is that your recommendation was for a 3140 or some such, but I don't think that's available any more.
Can anyone tell me if the 3490 will not only scan more than one page but will save multipages as a single document as the 1660 will?
CIndy

Dear Jill,
Oh, I appreciate every bit of computer info anyone takes the time to share. I probably identified what I bought incorrectly. I paid five hundred and forty nine... for the Kurzweil software, I'm not sure what it's called, scanning software, maybe, trading in my unused Open Book. I didn't know Kurzweil sold their own brand of scanner, too. The nice tech guy said he'd try and help me make the expensive HP all in one I shouldn't have bought a year ago work but he warned me it might be slow or inaccurate because it doesn't have a brightness control. He suggested I buy an Epsen, and not the cheapest, and if that sounds like a good idea to most of you, that's what I'll do.
Thanks,
Always With Love,
