I have an epson 4490. It doesn't like traid paperbacks, but with a little
patients they can be scanned.

People love the book edge scanner from Plustech. I believe they are
reasonable.
Epson also puts out good reliable scanners though I do not know model
numbers off hand.
If you go with the Plustech, you want the less expensive software bundled
with it. The more expensive version does things useful to sighted folks
but not us though i do not specifically know what those things are.
