Hi Jean, To add to Marty’s answer: there is no guarantee that your submissions will be replaced if the book is from a publisher we work with (or if it is from a “don’t use” publisher. All of the publishers we work with vary in what they allow us access to and what they have available in the correct format. Certainly, some volunteer submissions will be replaced, but not all. Additionally, even if your submission is eventually replaced, you’ve made it available to our members for a time when it otherwise wouldn’t be. Please do not reject a book if it is from a publisher we work with. Books should only be rejected if they are missing copyright information, if they are ebooks, or if they are so badly scanned that there is no way for a proofreader to fix all of the errors. The '”do not use” is just a guideline for us. If you don’t mind having your work being replaced in the future, then go ahead and proofread it. On the other hand, if you’d really really hate having your hard work replaced in the future, put the book back into the check-out list. HTH! I recently checked out a book for proofreading. (I now realize I should have done the recommended searches first.) The book I checked out was published by Doubleday, a division of Random House. In looking at the list of publishers in the Guidelines on Publishers, I don't see Doubleday but Random House has the notation "don't use." Is this a book I should not proofread? Also, if I shouldn't proof it, should I click on "reject" or "check in?" Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you! Jean
