Mary, Congratulations to you and Ann. I didn't find a single mistake in Miss Zukas and the Library Murders; it's nice to know that that kind of work can be produced, isn't it:? Jill ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mayrie ReNae" <mayrierenae@xxxxxxxxx>

Hi Jill,

The asterisks were added by the validator, not by me as the
submitter. I only use asterisks to denote section breaks that are indicated in the print by white space. My practice concerning page numbers, as I have
said what feels like six thousand times is to do the following in the case
of pages containing chapter headings:
Page break
Blank line
Page number
Blank line
Chapter heading
Blank Line
Text on the page
Blank line
Page break.

In the case of pages where chapter headings do not appear, I do
this:

Page break
Blank line
Page number
Blank Line
Text on the page
Blank line
Page break.

Just to clarify.

I'm glad that Ann's asterisks helped you to be certain that a
chapter heading was present. In some cases, too much information is better
than not enough.

Mayrie

I just read a Miss Zukas book that Mary submitted; she had a page number, a line of asterisks and then the chapter heading; nothing was erased. In this case I would say that the asterisks weren't really necessary; however, they
did help accentuate the factor that there was a new chapter.

Hi Susan,

No, it won't. I put about 4 stars on the first line, then blank
line, then chapter name. It will eat the asterisks. <smile>

As Lissi Says, Hi Booksharians,

When the chapter name such as "Chapter One" is the first thing at
the top of the page and the page number is at the bottom of a page, (and I
do not wish to move the page number), will putting one blank line on both
sides of the chapter name protect it? Thanks.

Susan
