Thanks, Ann. We used to use finger bowls here after meals. I mean, if you
set an elegant table you would include finger bowls. I guess that isn't
done here anymore, at least, not in the places I go.

Actually, Sue, it isn't at all. You're thinking of how toddlers eat,
using their whole hand. No, this is a delicate, refined art, using the
fingertips. The food rests on the pads of the fingers and doesn't
touch the palm of the hand at all. It's kind of hard to explain. They
taught me how to do it at the school for the blind in Bangalore. No,
this is, as I say, a well-thought-out, process. One is presented with
finger bowls after a meal so that one can wash one's hand in warm
water, complete with a slice of lemon in it. No, no, it is *not* gross at
all.
