Reggie, you are taking much greater offense than you should. In fact, you need not take any offense at all. Tracy was just wondering why it was taking so long to get her book proofread and she did not know how to contact you directly. You supplied an answer for her and it was satisfactory to her. You did not even need to apologize because you did nothing out of line. Like I said, you took a very long time to finish my submission, Just Another War, and I was wondering why it was taking so long too, but I never said anything about it. It certainly is not and never was necessary for you to apologize for that. I think that part of the problem here, if there is even a problem, is that so many other people have to comment on something that needed no comment. A question was asked and it was answered and so it was not the least bit necessary for everyone to jump in with their opinions. It was not a situation that called for opinions. If the job of proofing is too stressful for you considering your circumstances then go ahead and quit. If you do not really think you have the time for it then go ahead and quit. If, though, you want to quit because you think you are being unfairly criticized or because you are offended by the opinions that have been offered where no opinions were called for then please reconsider. There is nothing to be offended about and you have quite adequately explained why you take longer to proofread a book than some others might take.
