Ok. I have one poem in this book and a couple of books of poetry I want to get
done for my own sake. Thanks to all for the help.

When scanning poetry it's probably best to set your software to respect
line endings and then just leave the formatting as it comes out. I suppose
some people might be able to format it in a way that would be better than
the original, but I wouldn't know how.

I have a book with a poem in it, and I need suggestions on how to format
  it.
There are lines flush left and lines indented. Assuming that you could
have lines as long as you wanted are the indented lines supposed to be part
of the previous line, or are they each supposed to be separate?
  Thanks.
