Well, and one thing that made me not think much of it at first was it's told from the point of view of a robot, so I thought maybe the author was making a style choice. After all, computer code is not written with paragraph breaks. But then on a suspicion, I scanned a random page from a couple different books using Omnipage with 2-way voting (I still don't know what that voting thing means), and found these, too, had limited, if any, paragraph breaks.
There's another Omnipage option in the new Openbook which has 3-way voting. Maybe I'll try that and see if paragraph breaks are retained. So bizarre...

I think it is funny that this book has no paragraph changes. You would have thought they would be automatic. Cindy Lou Ray Cindy Lou Ray. Lee Martinez. It's about a robot who becomes a detective in order to find his kidnapped neighbors, the closest thing he has to family. It's great so far, very "pulpy."----- Original Message ----- From: "Grandma Cindy" <popularplace@xxxxxxxxx>To: <bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, March 06, 2008 3:27 AM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: Please don't kill meWhat is the book? If it interests me, I'll take it at some point, but not for a while because I have too many lined up to do at the moment, i.e., my five downloaded and some promised. If I decide to do it you can put hold for me and put in the comments that it needs a sighted validator. Apparently, it defaults to using an OCR recognition language called "Omnipage with Two-way Voting." I scanned an entire book, thinking from the text that was being read back to me that it was fine. Once I started deleting headers and such, I came to a realization: Omnipage with two-way voting (whatever the hell that means) recognizes characters quite well ... but paragraph formatting is almost nonexistent! I mean, hardly any paragraph breaks at all! Since the text is so clean, I reeeeeeeally don't want to have to rescan it with Finereader which I'm sure would keep the paragraph breaks. I already scanned another book using Finereader with Openbook 8, but I guess somewhere my settings got switched back to default. If I submit this book, will it be rejected due to lack of paragraph breaks? <Sigh> I am a bit at a loss.***WISH LIST (CALLED REQUESTED ADDITIONS TO THE BOOKSHARE COLLECTION)IS AVAILABLE AT http://people.delphiforums.com/jamiecalton/Book_Requests.htm http://www.friendsofbookshare.org/ http://studentpages.alma.edu/~07jmyate/book_requests.htm A LIST OF BOOKS CURRENTLY BEING SCANNED IS AVAILABLE AT http://people.delphiforums.com/jamiecalton/scanning.html Jake's site for useful links: http://www.jbrownell.com/bkslinks.html ____________________________________________________________________________________ Looking for last minute shopping deals?
