Uh oh! I just messed up 2 of Laura Ann's books. I was removing headers and put her page numbers neatly at the top left of each page. There were adjacent to a tab character and the heading. I thought I was being careful so the stripper wouldn't be confused by the headers. Now I find out that my neatly placed page numbers will be stripped without a blank line. The irony is that I don't like doing page numbers. Someone somewhere has got to be laughing over this one.

Evan,

I can't say for sure without being able to look through the code for
Bookshare's tools, but my guess would be that the tools end up stripping the
paragraph markers at the end of the header or the front of the footer as
part of stripping the text, that they still strip the paragraph markers even
when there's no text on the line, and that the tools fail to put them back
in when they create the HTML file. That's only a guess, though. All I know
for certain is that the page numbers end up part of a paragraph when a blank
line isn't left at the top and bottom of the page.

It's possible that Bookshare's fixed this problem and hasn't informed us,
but I doubt they've done so because they haven't fixed other bugs that we've
reported.
