Hi Kim,
Are you proofreading in Kurzweil or Microsoft Word. The ^m replaced with
^p^m^p are instructions for Word. That won't work in Kurzweil.
In Kurzweil, the command would be \p replaced with \n\p\n instead.
Does that help?

Thanks very much, Reggie! I'm glad I'm not the first to have this question.
*smiles* I'm trying to commit as much as possible to memory now, to save
myself tons of re-reading later. LOL
Oh, I do love my reading hole, too! Sometimes I have to remember to crawl
out long enough to work, eat, etc. Such an inconvenience. LOL
Okay, another quick newbie question before I proceed here. This one regards
page breaks. In one section of the manual, (Mayrie's very comprehensive
section on proofing using Kurzweil), she mentions having blank lines around
each page break, and the method of making sure this is done. Find and
replace, ^m, and replace all with ^p^m^p. But when I tried this, it threw
off my pages by a lot. Contents from one page ended up on another, etc,
etc. Is this still a necessary step, and if so, where's my mistake here? I
feel like I'm missing (or misunderstanding) something really obvious. LOL
Hope to have this done by sometimes tomorrow. Thank you Anastasia S for an
excellent scan!

Exactly Kim. I change my whole book to the font and 12-point. Then I go
back and enlarge book title to 16-point or larger depending on whether there
are chapters and numbers and still other titles I want to make larger within
the chapter. (I know there is a name for those, but this fossil's brain is
having a moment, smiles.) Remember also that you can put Chapter in front of
one or 1 to help the reader.
Now I'll go back to my reading hole, which I crawl out of every now and then
to ask a question or answer a question such as this one which I had to get
help with too! Hope this helps!

Well, I'm just about to begin proofing my first Bookshare book! *gulps*
Before I did it, I wanted to familiarize myself with the steps, and, as much
as possible, get comfortable with them. I know practice and the routine of
doing them over and over for books will make it easier. Hahaha. Hopefully
after successfully completing this one, I won't feel so daunted. *sheepish
grin*
My question is about the font. This particular book has a font that my Word
2003 doesn't have installed, so it said it would show me the closest font
available. I understand that Times New Roman is an easy font to read, and
know from the documentation that it's a recommended font. I already know
that I can't change text. But is it okay to change the type of font. In
other words, could I select the entire content of the rtf, change it to
times new roman 12 point, and then change the size of particular chapter
titles, book title, etc, as required?
Any info is very much appreciated!
