And then, on the other hand, sometimes the stripper does too much 
including removing page numbers and chapter titles or number indicators.
Hence, this is a fine line where you can do too little or too much.
Let me make one point that may be overlooked.  While volunteer validators 
can improve the quality of the book by editing, this is not a required 
part of validating as the guidelines outline.
And before editing, make certain that the book passes muster on all other 
accounts else you will have wasted your time.
Basically, what validators are required to do is check that the book is 
not already part of the collection;
that the book is a scanned book not an etext obtained from somewhere else 
such as Web Braille;
that the author, title and copyright info are complete and correct;
that the text part of the book appears to be complete;
that the book is readable;
and that it has page breaks.
Beyond those basics, what a validator does or doesn't do is up to them.
