Hi Deb,I can't imagine that your book will get rejected if the scan lost the italics. If you still have all the images and it doesn't take much to re-recognize the text, it might be worth a shot if you haven't done much else with the scan yet and won't lose a bunch of work you've already put in. I don't know how much work it would be to add them back in manually either -- it pretty much depends on the book.
