[bksvol-discuss] Re: OT: washing computer in dishwasher

You should know that I am not the handiest person in the world. If I were to
disassemble and re-assemble a keyboard, I'd prefer to have someone with me
in my house at the time. If my keyboard has screws, I can't feel them.
Regards, Kim.

It's really easy with most of them. They have just a few (3 or 4) screws on
the back side. Unscrew those and the top will just lift off. Inside there
will generally be a bubble plate that causes the keys to rise after being
pressed and three thin layers of plastic.
Two of them contain the signal wires, the third sits between the other two,
it contains holes, when a key is pressed the outer two contact each othe and
a circuit is completed.

Attached to the bottom plastic sheet will be a small printed circuit board
that handles the logic connecting the keyboard to the cord.

The four layers just described are aligned by pegs set in the base half of
the keyboard housing.

I wouldn't not suggest trying this with a wireless keyboard, those would
need more internals, but old style corded keyboards are very simple.
