What makes you so sure that the check was lost in the mail?  It is just as
likely that it got misplaced in Palo Alto
or is still sitting awaiting processing.
After all, if it takes them months upon occasion to place the final stamp
upon a book or rather than an administrator taking the 30 seconds
necessary to fix a problem rather than shoving a book to step 1,
how can we assume that they are any better at processing checks, crediting
accounts, and the rest.
Bookshare seems painfully slow when something requires a human to do
something!
