I'm not sure how to answer that, E. Maybe it doesn't.
The only explanation I've thought when I see some of
the incorrect words in posts is that the person is
using a word that they think is the correct one but
they can't see that it's a homonym and a spell-check
wouldn't catch it as a spelling error. Ann's example
of the person who wrote P i l a t e instead of p i l o
t, for example.
