Hi Shannon, Text Aloud is such a great program, at least in my opinion. I use AT&T Mike as my voice of choice. I read all Bookshare books using Text Aloud. You can find out more by going to the web site www.nextup.com There a samples of the voices, pricing information ... pretty much anything you might want to know. HTH Blessings. I much prefer synthesized speech. Kurzweil refuses to convert to MP3 for me, and I have no clue why. It will convert to any other format, but not mp3. So, I'm afraid. I really don't like the voices in the stream, but there really isn't much else out there. Shannon Women will starve in silence until new stories are created which confer on them the power of naming themselves. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jill O'Connell" <jillocon@xxxxxxxxxx> To: <bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, December 11, 2008 5:47 PM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: OT - book port and book courier sound quality I would think that a lot depends on how you plan to use the stream. If it is primarily to read NLS books, then there is no voice problem. But if you plan to depend on Victor's voices to read Bookshare books and are unable to convert them to MP3 files through Kurzweil, for instance, then I can appreciate your problem. Have you look at the archives on the Accessworld web site for the training session done by Ann Parsons? I haven't because I already have a Victor Stream but the quality of her training I know to be excelent and this may help you decide which device to purchase. ----- Original Message ----- Jill From: "solsticesinger" <solsticesinger@xxxxxxxxx> To: <bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, December 11, 2008 3:00 PM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: OT - book port and book courier sound quality > The sound of the stream scares me immensely.
