Jamie,

You beat me to it! This group is so on top of everything.

Kudos to each and every one of you from Bookshare staff during National
Volunteer Week. Thanks for all you do.

I have asked a few staff people here to run some numbers for you to get a sense
of the magnitude of your contribution.

Meanwhile let me point out that National Volunteer Week leads into Pay It
Forward Day 2010 (April 29, 2010): http://www.payitforwardday.com/

One way to multiply your impact these next two weeks is to invite others to
volunteer with Bookshare. A volunteer slot that is particularly hard to fill at
the moment is doing image descriptions.

We have a chemistry textbook and a handful of physics textbooks in digital
format but with charts, graphs, and other non-ascii material that an OCR does
not catch. We need volunteers with some science knowledge to write descriptions
of what they see in these graphics so that we can insert them into the text.
Have potential volunteers in mind? They can find more detail here:

How did you find out about volunteer week and other stuff.

"To me, music that breaks your heart is the music that stays with you forever.
It's one thing to be melancholy and one thing to be sophisticated, but when you
get the two of them together in a way people can relate to, then I think you're
on to something. You want the sophistication to lie in the purity of the sound,
the beauty of the arrangements, and the quality of the performances."-Trumpeter

It's not really OT but some people may not want a pat on the back so they can
easily delete this message/thread.

Anyway this is National Volunteer Week so everyone here please pat yourselves
and each other on the back for being a great group of Bookshare volunteers! I
love the way we all work together and help each other out.
