And then there's the issue of responding to the email, which simply confirms that the spam was sent to a real email address. This only encourages more spam. I make it a point never to respond to such messages. Once you do, then your name is sold again to other spammers as a legitimate email address and you'll just get more and more of it.

yes, I was going to say that, too. If the subject says regarding your account and you don't already have one, it sounds like spam--or, as Dan says, someone trying to get in fo from yuou. I get those from ebay and paypal and don't have accounts so I know they're not legit. The ones from B of A start me worryhing, but once i wrote to them to ask if it was legit and they said know, they'll never e-mail Cindy --- Dan Beaver <dbeaver888@xxxxxxxxx> wrote:Regarding Your Mobipocket AccountAmy, You might want to be careful about responding to those emails. If you haven't communicated with those folks before it could be spooffed email addresses which means the emails could contain viruses or the website they probably direct you to could plant mal ware on your system.----- Original Message ----- From: Amy Goldring TajalliTo: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, August 28, 2007 2:19 PM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] OT: Fw: Regarding Your Mobipocket Account Could someone tell me what a Mobipocket is and why I would want one. I have gotten mail from them about books so I assume it is a way to read ebooks but that is the limit of my knowledge and before I tell them to stop contacting me I would like to know if I should.
