Ouch, I don't know how you can use that Capsaicin, Cindy! When I tried to use it, I felt like I was burning alive! I use it variously on my shoulders and back. I tried on my knee the the other day but it didn't stick. It's a "topical analgesic." The active ingredients are camphor. menthol and methyl salicylate. My husband complains about the menthol, or maybe it's the camphor smell, but that sort of wears off. Anyway,it makes the pain go away and is not uncomfortable. I also use Capsaicin, a cream that I rub on--not with the Salonpas. I use the Salonpas when nothing else seems to help. Capsaicin is a form of pepper, apparently; I can't remember why it works--it brings something to the surface--heat? pain? when one uses it the first time it sort of burns a bit, but after repeated use one doesn't feel a thing. When is your husband's appointment with the rheumatologst? It seems to be an odd place to have rheumatism, but then, I don't know much about it.
