he is a golden retriever which the breed anyway are very well known for
their "hunting" ability. he knows he can't chase, squirrels, birds, deer
and rabbits and leaves them alone, but I don't honestly think he knew what
Toads were until we got those ones that summer. We had lots of rain and a
"hay field" across the street, and well, the two combined, and all things
equal, smile. He only did it twice, and came back to us as soon as he knew
he screwed up. He just got the best of him, and well he was a dog after
all... smile.

Yes some toads can be poisonous if swallowed, but most, smile, tell the
animal away ahead of that point not to eat them. They secrete rather nasty
tasting stuff out their backs and well the animal spits it out.

The vision must be followed by the venture. It is not enough to
stare up the steps - we must step up the stairs.

A toad? What kind of dog do you have? (smile) A water
spaniel? A setter (do they point?) I can understand
taking off after an attractive dog of the opposite
gender, but a toad? (smile) Good thing he (?) didn't
catch it. With dogs' propensities for eating things,
it probably wouldn't have been good for him. Might hav
egiven him warts, at least (grin).
