Kaitlyn, The Dell 9100 only has one battery slot--the slot in which your current huge battery resides. If you need to replace the battery, you'll have to turn off the computer, remove the first, put in the other, and restart. The second battery does not go in the side bay drive slot. Both slots are the same size, but mirror images of each other so the right battery won't fit in the left slot. Have you downloaded a manual from the Dell web site? They are in html format and read well. You download it as an exe file and it unpacks to a number of files.
