Well, Cindy asked, and if anyone else is curious, here is our update.

First of all, I interviewed for two positions with Guide Dogs for the Blind
on last Tuesday and well I have a week to wait for the results. They are
for the Resident Attendant and for the Training Class Specialist, both
asking for legally blind dog handlers as applicants.

I also sent in an application, resume and cover letter to Philadelphia, but
who knows how long those take to process. smile, it is the state. I am
also applying at any other job that is available and just waiting at the
present time.

On the home front.

I just came home from a short but very exciting trip to San francisco, where
I was at the Guide dogs for the Blind Alumni Reunion. It was a blast, left
on Thursday and came home late last night. It was a class reunion as well
as a conference offering workshops, break out sessions, two fantastic
speakers, information and updates from the school, lots of door prizes,
great food, and a chance to celebrate our veterans. We were in US Today, or
at least a reporter showed up to write an article about the convention. But
an absolute blast with over one hundred and fifty working guides and puppies
in training. Was an absolutely fantastic time. Oh, we have a new web page
as well at www.guidedogs.com

I won a little black labrador puppy stuffed, smile, that stands about six
inches tall. it looks rather realistic, and Shadow the pet dog, well I
think he thought it was real, smile. he kept trying to smell it and
interact with it, while the pup sat on my moms lap last night. We have him
hiding up here in the stuffed animal box, smile.

On the fammily side. My dad is in the hospital and I was going to write and
ask for you alls prayers. he has been in now for a week and a half, and he
was doing o.k.

O.k. to explain. My dad is a liver transplat recipient, and surviver, he
has had his liver now for thirteen years. he also has an iliostomy, and
very little left of his small intestine.

Dad developed either an irritation or a blockage in his small intestine and
went to the Erie VA on the 5th. He was getting better and was supposed to
come home yesterday, but he developed a blood infection and now has to stay
in for another week, at the minimum. it is very scary, they don't want to
ooperate if they can and well.... needless to say, mom and I are holding
down the fort here. Shadow is moping because his favorite human isn't home,
and we are just trying to take care of business, taking care of finances,
and groceries and keeping the house clean and my brother on track.

We would really appreciate any positive carma and prayers if you are
willing, smile. If dad does come home he will have to have IV infusion
therapy for at least a week, something that mom and i need to learn how to
do.

Beyond that. I have three books to submit tonight, two really great and one
makred good as I don't have the patience to fix it up, smile. I am
scanning, believe it or not, it is therapuetic to me and makes me feel like
I am doing something productive, smile. But that is what we are up to.

Smile. Limbo isn't a fun place to be, i wonder if this is what Catholics
invision Pergatory to be, smile, Limbo?

I do hope to get out of it soon though. smile.

Puppies are the joy at one end.
Old dogs are the treasure at the other.
