I think I was on the site when it was implemented. I ran into a frustrating problem of the site asking me to log in and every time I did it asked me to log in again. This continued for some time when suddenly on another attempt the site was working again and the first time I clicked on a metadata page I noticed the link for MP3. When I was running into the problem I tried to mention it here, but it looks like I had come unsubscribed and had to resubscribe. There is something about Free Lists that causes it to unsubscribe people from time to time without telling them. Anyway, I did tell the BARD Talk list about the new feature and tried to download a book in MP3. I can tell you this. If you are in a hurry then forget it. The conversion takes so long that you had better not expect it to finish the same day you request it. I made my conversion request between 3 and 4 yesterday. Right now I am checking my email in the order that I received it and I am up to this one that I am replying to. I note that it was delivered at 12:25 A. M. and as of that time I still had not gotten the email telling me that the book was ready for download. One of the BARD Talk subscribers said that she made a request at about 4: P. M. eastern time and it was ready by about 10:30 that night. She might have requested a shorter book than I did. When thousands of people start requesting conversions to MP3 at the same time I expect that it would be a good idea to make the conversion request at least a week in advance unless Bookshare starts storing audio versions for immediate download. I will continue to make my way through this email and when or if I come across the link to download the book I requested I will stop there to download it. I am anxious to find out how good the quality of the synthetic voice is. If it is not that great I may just stick with the TTS in my Stream because it would be less hassle.

Is no one else excited about the opportunity to download books in MP3 format
now? I noticed my most recent Nancy Drew book, The Ringmaster's Secret, is
available in a beta download. Didn't have time to listen deep, but was pleased
with moving it to iTunes and listening to the start.
