Yes! Partisan now shows up in a search. It's Ready for Checkout. Tim, can you
find it now?

Thanks for figuring out that "Adult Content" thing, Em. It was glitchy, but
fiddling with it ultimately solved the problem.

Interesting. I went to my Preferences tab, and my Block Adult Content setting
was already at No. Just to see what would happen, I changed the setting to
Yes, and looked at the checkout list -- nothing had changed. BUT when I went
back and changed the setting to No again, I can now see 113 books.

And, Partisan now shows up on "My Checked Out Books."

So. I have just released Partisan, and it disappeared from my page. It SHOULD
turn up back in the "Ready for Checkout" list. Right?

Hope you are following all this, Tim.

To change this setting, go to My Account link at the top of the page,
click on the Preferences tab (the 5th one from the left), and it is
the second setting down. Setting it to No will show more results.

Perhaps this will help others out.

Hi Beverly,

Well, you've hit on the problem! You and Tim aren't seeing all of the
potential books to check out for proofreading. I see 113, or some number
close to that. Why we see different numbers, I have no idea, but that is
definitely why you and Tim couldn't find the book you were looking for!

You are brilliant to think to mention the number of results you see.

If the book doesn't appear in your list of checked out books in the next
day or so, it may appear back on the checkout page as if by magic. It's not
a huge deal, as in two weeks, it'll automatically go back on the checkout
page whether you can do anything or not to release it before that.
And curiosity is not a bad thing!

I look forward to your being able to join the ranks of proofreaders whenever
that happens!

Mayrie

Thank you for your kind reassurance, Mayrie. It's still not showing up as a
book I have checked out, but I'll keep checking into my account this evening
and tomorrow.
But I'm also still troubled by why neither Tim nor I could see this title in
the list to begin with, and why it didn't show up in a Search for either of
us. Even when Roger pointed it out as the 48th title from the top, it
wasn't there in my list.
My list of titles "Ready for Checkout" is currently showing 78. Does this
seem right?
(I've been following this forum in an attempt to be better educated in case
I ever do get approved to proof. Now I've learned my lesson about being TOO
curious, though.)

Hi there,

This has happened before, and I can't remember how it got solved. Don't
feel bad! At least we know where the book is supposed to be! It may show
up in your checked out books in a bit and then you can release it.

You're right, it should show up on the page of your checked out books, but
it's just a glitch that it isn't there.

Hope it shows up there in a bit so that you can release it.

Keep us posted.

And no worries!

OK, somebody needs to help me. When I go to "My Checked Out Books," I am
told "You have no checked out books."
Yet I do find Partisan in my "downloads" on my desktop -- I guess I got it
by clicking on the link in Em Rose's email, just out of curiosity to see how
it would show up. It led me to a blank screen, so I thought that was that,
and I didn't give it another thought until I saw my name on this list.
I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to leap in, and now I just need to figure out
how to put it back for Tim. It says "Once you have finished proofreading a
book, click "Check in" in the Action column...." but I don't know where this
is. Shouldn't it be in my "checked out" books list? But it says I have no
checked out books. I'm really confused.

ACK! That is a mistake. How did I get it? Lordy. Let me figure out how to
put it back. I'm not even an approved proofreader yet.

Not to be an odd bird, mayrie, but if you use the search box, I am pretty
sure it searches all pages, not jus the top one.
Kick me if I am wrong! LOL

Hi Tim,

Do you know that there are more than one page of books ready for checkout?
If you go to the checkout page, and can't find the book you're looking for
there, try hitting the "next" button. This will take you to the next page
of results. If you don't find the book there, keep hitting the next button
until you've looked through all of the pages of books ready for checkout.
Beware, it takes quite a while to load each subsequent page of results.
If
you're patient, the page will load, though you may feel like a very old
man
by the time the page does load, but it will load.

Hope this helps.

Roger, I still can't find it and I used the search box. Has it been
grabbed
already?

Tim, I recall that you were interested in proofing Partisan by S. Andrew
Swann. The person who had it checked out has released it and it is
available
again. You might want to get it before it's grabbed again. I also recall
that you could not find it earlier. Try using the search feature right at
the top of the checkout list. I just found it promptly by using the key
word
partisan.

Yippee! I've been approved! I've been approved! "I'm somebody now" (to
paraphrase Steve Martin in a movie whose name escapes me right now). I
already have a book proofread to send in ("Dark Is The Sun" by Phillip
Jose
Farmer)!

Why is it taking over 3 months to approve new proofreaders after they
complete their first test book?
