Hi Everyone, Last week, many folks expressed an interest in having the check out a bookpage be more easily navigable. That is, similar to the "New Books" page onthe Bookshare web site. Here is a way to do that if you are using JAWS as your screen reader. The books listed on the checkout page are in a table. If you place your cursor on the first title in the table, and you want only to see booktitles, press control+alt+down arrow to move through that column (the title column) of the table. If you want to navigate by author, place your cursor on the first author listed and again press control+alt+downarrow and you'llmove through the list of authors ready for checkout. If you want to navigate any portion of the table, holding down the control and alt keys and then use all four of your arrow keys in conjunction with the alt and control keys, you can navigate quickly and easily in any direction in the table. This works with all tables, both on the internet and in Microsoft Word. It's much quicker than using either the arrow keys by themselves or tabbingbetween links on the check out a book page. I hope that helps some folks. I'm positive that other screen readers have similar commands to accomplish the same thing. They just aren't commands that I know off of the top of my head. Happy volunteering! Please let me know if I need to clarify anything.
