Hi everyone! The only empanadas I have eaten are the apple ones at Taco Bell. I'm sure the others are better than them.
I didn't know that there were savory empanadas until we were prompted by the title of the book to discuss empanadas..
It seems like most cuisines have some kind of turnover, perogie, empanada, etc. Debby The At 07:38 PM 4/9/2010, Chela Robles wrote
Ann, K1000 has the definition but I can sum it up for you like this:A Spanish or Latin-American turnover with a flaky crust and a spicy or sweet filling. I've had them both with spices and sweetness they are to die for.--------------------------------"To me, music that breaks your heart is the music that stays with you forever. I'd say it's like a turnover filled with meat--or like an Italian Calzone, but I don't think it has cheese--but maybe thsat's because the ones I've ordered were meat.CindyWish List (i.e., books wanted added to the collection) and books-being-scanned list available at sites belowWish List: https://wiki.benetech.org/display/BSO/Bookshare+Wish+ListBooks Being Scanned List: https://wiki.benetech.org/display/BSO/Books+Being+Scanned+List--- On Fri, 4/9/10, Ann Parsons <akp@xxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:From: Ann Parsons <akp@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: National Empanada Day book To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Friday, April 9, 2010, 5:15 PM Hi all, I guess I'm not as familiar with Mexican cooking as I should be. What is an empanada, please? Ain't it nice to know that you don't know everything? I'm willing to learn. I could go on google and see if I can find a recipe, but if somebody can tell me in one paragraph or less what an empanada is, I'd appreciate it. Indian food I know. Greek/Middle East I know. Japanese I know. Some Korean I know. Chinese I know. Jewish I know. French I know. I guess I'm just ignorant about Mexican food. Somebody enlighten me, please. Ann P. -- Ann K.
