Katie that is probabily partially true, but tape players with 4 track and 15/16 speed capabilities can be purchased . There are many of us who can afford to buy there own tape players do so as they are usually of better quality than those supplied by NLS. HTH, George R. The tapes were on a special four track format that ran at half speed compaired to a standard tape. IT is similar to what bookshare is doing with the encoded format. It allows the persons that are qualified to use the resource to have access and not the general public. Cd players have been "in" for such a long time and that format of music is so easily converted to ipod style players that it would seem that cassettes wouldn't have much popularity.
