Larry, since you mentioned that the problem does not occur in JAWS 18, do
you think it is a JAWS issue?

I am not comfortable enough with JAWS settings to have a recommendation, but
you might check through options with a document open then opening the
insert+V menu.

Some of the Freedom Scientific techs have been helpful to us recently and
they can take remote access and maybe figure the issue out.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] My bogus page break problem better explained I
hope

Hi Judy Et al. I hope the below better explains my problem.

I am having an annoying problem I'd like to explain below so please be
patient.

I help process books for Bookshare. I convert my Kurzweil scans to rtf and
process them in word 2016 in office 365. I am using the latest updates of
both JAWS and office 365. In order to process the book correctly, I need to
know where the hard page break occurs in order to ensure that a paragraph
mark is inserted both before and after the hard page break. I don't need the
jaws indication for page break which occurs using the setting for page
section and something else so I un-check it. I add a dictionary entry to the
word settings-not the default dictionary-adding the following entry:

\012 page break

Jaws correctly reports the hard page break when I arrow through the book.
The problem occurs in this way. Jaws reports an incorrect  page break at the
tops of pages containing chapter headings. When I arrow up and down, I get a
bogus page break along with the correct one. In other words, when arrowing
up and down, the paragraph mark is reported as a page break. When I arrow
right and left, jaws says "blank" for the paragraph entry which is correct.
The problem does not occur in jaws 18.
