My trusty Epson 1660 died a few days ago. It wasn't getting any power so I
assume the power cord where it attached to the back of the scanner became
disconnected from wear and tear and I was told by a local computer
technician that it wasn't worth what it would cost to open up the scanner
and resolder the connection.

Fortunately, A friend had an Epson 3170 that was hardly used so I bought it
from him. My question is--do I hook up the scanner first or install the
drivers first. I can never remember which to do first. Please advise.
Thanks in advance.

not necessarily in that order)!
