Just in case someone can't read this message, I've reproduced it below. ----- Volunteers, I am sharing with you this link to an instructional video that was just shot yesterday afternoon on how to use Bookshare's new Image Description Tool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlMGL6eCh-c Following the instructions takes you to a selection of "Freely Available" textbooks but the tool allows volunteers to modify any DAISY with Images book in our collection. Modified books then must clear an approval process to be available through Bookshare. At this time, until we make progress on describing images in our 25 top priority books, we are only collecting and not yet approving books for republishing with image descriptions. Thanks to everyone who has started work on that list! The video narrator is in-house volunteer Calvin Carr. A humorous note: Between the start of the day yesterday and the afternoon when Calvin wrapped this shoot Engineering implemented three upgrades - One before Calvin arrived, one moments before he checked in with me, and one while he was in the booth recording. You won't catch the hesitation but Calvin is ad libbing as the interface changes -- for the better -- while recording. Of course, this version will be outdated quickly with so many changes but as the tool matures a permanent version of the training can be released with captioning, printable script, and job tip sheets. In the meantime here is something meant to help those who have already lept into this new volunteer opportunity. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Scott Rains" <scottr@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>; <bks_announce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, August 18, 2011 9:46 AM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] More on Creating Image Descriptions for Bookshare Volunteers, I am sharing with you this link to an instructional video that was just shot yesterday afternoon on how to use Bookshare's new Image Description Tool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlMGL6eCh-c Following the instructions takes you to a selection of "Freely Available" textbooks but the tool allows volunteers to modify any DAISY with Images book in our collection.
